I'm just going to use bullet points because everything I have to say is pretty random but relates to what's been going on lately:
- We finally got our student numbers and will be getting our IDs soon but I guess they're not real student IDs and even say "not a student ID" on them because we're not permanent students here. This has caused more work for Mehmet so we can get student discounts at random places but it will soon all work out. We can't access the internet on campus though but people survived without internet back in the day so I guess we can do it too (hopefully haha)
- I'm looking forward to trying sheep stomach soup ( işkembe çorbası) later today or possibly tomorrow
- I keep trying new methods to avoid having Lake Michigan on our bathroom floor after ever time I shower but all methods have sucked. I'm not a huge fan of mopping after every shower but I guess I'm improving my mopping skills?
- I'm officially not thrown off by the toilets here. Took a bit to get use to and this website ( http://www.wikihow.com/Use-a-Squat-Toilet ) to double check some stuff. Luckily though the toilets in our apartments and at bars are regular toilets but they're like this pretty much any where else I've found
- I bought peanut butter, bread, a knife, and used my bananas from the other day to make the best peanut butter banana sandwich I've ever had. Made for a good breakfast and afternoon snack today.
- I can successfully count one through 29 without having to stop and think about it for a long time...I guess it's time to figure out what 30 is in Turkish now. But Hakan said I still sound like a foreigner when I say them so I'll have to work on my pronunciation
- I'm not ballsy enough to try a lamborghini shot over here. Two of the guys each had one yesterday and they had an interesting night to say the least. But good news is that they are alive and happy to laugh about it now
- I forgot what my hydrology professor looked like so I've been saying this whole time that my hydrology professor was out on my birthday but it was really the fluid mechanics/hydraulics professor that was there. I knew I recognized him as a water prof but it was the wrong water guy
- And here's some pics of my apartment
My bed's closest to the window
Agne's room
- And this is my Turkish word/phrase studying sheet for learning stuff. I finally started one yesterday and it's helped me remember stuff way more after just one day
Heading to Istanbul on Friday at 3 a.m.!
